Science shows that trees, growing as part of a biodiverse native forest, will not only absorb greenhouse gas emissions, but will also help to tackle salinity, improve water quality and provide essential habitat for native species.
Greenfleet's policy is to plant trees to create forests in areas of environmental concern, putting back the mix of native species that had been there originally. The trees are propagated from seed collected in the local area to provide maximum ecological benefits - reducing salinity and soil erosion, and providing essential habitat for native species.
Planting the Trees
The trees are planted within one year of purchasing your ‘Plant a Tree’ card. The trees are planted as soon as practicable, and will take into account seasonal conditions in order to optimize the likelihood of survival and establishment of forest. The majority of our plantings occur in the wetter seasons because the rains help to get the trees off to a good start.
