The 2009 Yalumba Shiraz comes from the Yalumba winery located just beyond the south-east boundary of Angaston in South Australia and is rated 91 points by James Halliday. Yalumba wines each have a style all of their own and each have been influenced by a diverse range of elements. Elements Yalumba likes to call 'the controllables', such as the Yalumba Vine Nursery and on-site cooperage – as well as other factors that cannot be emulated by any other winery.

Accompanying this is a bottle of the 2009 Hugh Hamilton McLaren Vale 'The Rascal' Shiraz that has been awarded an outstanding 94 points by James Halliday. Located in McLaren Vale South Australia, Hugh Hamilton seeks individuality and quality in all the vineyards. The bouquet of a great McLaren Vale Shiraz is spicy, with licks of ripe red fruits – blackberries, raspberries, & dark cherries. It also has hints of liquorice and tar; maybe also panforté. ‘The Rascal’ shows all of these, plus some fragrant French oak, and a hint of olive and earth.
